Taekwondo4Fitness is a family-friendly martial arts school based in Košice in Slovakia, offering martial arts classes, fitness, discipline, self-defence, online and venue-based for kids and adults. Students and their parents can be confident of being professionally trained to the highest standards and in a fun and controlled environment.

 

What is Taekwondo?

The name certainly translates as the way of the foot and the fist – the art of kick, punching and unarmed combat.


Taekwondo is a Korean martial art focusing on head-hight kicks, jumping and spinning, and fast kicking techniques. This sport has roots in various Korean forms of martial arts, stretching back more than 2000 years.


Tae” intends to break or attack with the foot.

Kwon” means to break with the fist.

Do” interprets as the art or way.


Taekwondo concentrates on combining combat techniques and self-defence and is an excellent form of exercise mixed with fun as an art.

As a sport, it has over 70 million practitioners across the world. It originates from South Korea, where the world governing body, the World Taekwondo (WT), is currently based.


In Taekwondo, attacking and defensive movements, including punching, kicking and blocking techniques, and differing stances, are done in a set series and are referred to as Poomsae. These basic movements bring together all the martial art skills in a graceful yet powerful manner.


Poomsae forms are a significant part of Taekwondo’s promotion process, and practitioners must demonstrate a good understanding of the forms before progressing to the next grade.

My goal is to inspire and motivate the youth and adults to become more active, make healthier choices, and share the experience of shaping oneself into a better person each and every day. I became a Taekwondo Instructor to help my students achieve their health and fitness goals with martial arts.

I deliver fun and engaging martial arts classes for all ages and abilities online and venue-based in Košice, Slovakia. I also offer 1:1 Coaching in German, English and Slovak languages to work with you on specific areas to help you achieve your goals, for example, improving the required skills to pass a belt promotion exam. This is also an excellent opportunity for beginners to get started more quickly.

In-Person Taekwondo Classes

In-person classes at a venue are subject to the number of participants who have the opportunity to learn life, team and social skills, self-defence and earn higher grades in belt promotion exams and a Kukkiwon black belt that is internationally recognised.

Length of the sessions

Tots (4-6) – 30 minutes
Kids (7-11) – 45 minutes
Teens & Adults  (12+) – 60 minutes

Kids at a young age have a limited ability to focus. For this reason, the sessions are shorter than classes for teens and adults for better learning outcomes. For example, the lessons shouldn’t be longer than 30 minutes for six-year-olds. As a rule, 5 minutes for each year of age.

Age is just a number if you take good care of yourself! Humans are designed to move! Movement is something that our genes expect from us! Physical activity is essential, has physiological benefits, and contributes to social and psychological well-being. Regular exercise also has a notable tactic against contracting any infection in the first place and slashes the risk of severe disease.

Zoom allows us to meet and exercise together “face-to-face” during this time of crisis with COVID-19 and when meeting in person isn’t possible. It also enables individuals from other regions or different countries to join.

It doesn’t matter where you are based as long you can train safely from home. You are all set to go if you have at least 2m x 2m of free space available.

There are no geographical limits for training with me or earning higher grades, and a Kukkiwon blackbelt is internationally recognised.

Taekwondo Poomsae Coaching

When executing kicks, blocks, and punches with power, you must maintain a proper posture with the correct foot and hand position without compromising your stance. The Korean term for Taekwondo forms is Poomsae. Besides, forms are also known as patterns that teach your body a good balance.

Poomsae forms are a significant part of Taekwondo’s promotion process, and practitioners must demonstrate a good understanding of the forms before progressing to the next grade.
